DESIGN AND MAKE YOUR OWN TEXTURED WEDDING BAND
The day will start with design through exploring textures and lead on onto the hands-on creation of your own uniquely textured wedding band which delves into the process of etching. Followed by soldering and polishing / applying a surface finish to your final piece.
Once your rings are all polished and finished, I will take them to the historic London Assay Office (it has been open since 1478!) to be hallmarked. This will take 5 working days.
You will learn the process of calculating the length of precious metal required in order to make a ring. How to cut, file, solder, clean, polish and etch your beautiful ring.
You do not have to have any prior experience in making jewellery to participate in this course, I will be on hand to demonstrate all the skills you need to create your wedding band and I will be able to answer any questions about jewellery that you may have.
The course fee covers the cost of all materials.
Choose from sterling silver, 9ct, 14, 18ct yellow gold or 9ct and 18ct white gold.
This workshop is offered in two ring size options:
Medium - 3mm wide and 1.5mm thick
Broad - 7mm wide and 2mm thick
Medium is a more classic/fine wedding band size and broad is wider, therefore it is more suited to those who want a larger ring in terms of surface area.
I will provide materials that are recycled and sourced from responsible suppliers based in London’s famous Hatton Garden.
This workshop will last 4-5 hours.
A vegetarian lunch and refreshments (including bubbles) will be provided.
Please outline any dietary requirements 2 working days before your workshop.
To book, just select a material and a thickness and date that suits you!
Workshops are held at Laura’s studio in Deptford, South East London.
If you can’t make the listed dates or have any questions please feel free to get in touch.
